She’d never been this embarrassed before.

God, I love her.

“Deli,” I said softly. “I—”

“I need to pee,” she said, pushing away from me.

“Just a sec—”

“Nope.” She shoved me away properly. “If I get a UTI because I don’t pee right now, are you going to take responsibility for it? Are you the one whose peehole is going to burn like a motherfucker for a few days? No, and no. So let me pee.”

Well, it was hard to argue with that.

I also didn’t want to be on the end of her complaining about an infection.

“Please, my lady. Go and pee.” I swept my arm towards the other bedroom where the en-suite bathroom was.

“Thank you for the unnecessary permission, my lord,” she huffed, stalking naked into the bathroom.

I laughed as she disappeared, throwing my arm over my eyes. I took a deep breath and huffed it out as a moment of silence wrapped around me.

Trust her.

Of course, she’d need to pee right as I was about to tell her I was in love with her.

Oh, well. There was time for that. As long as she didn’t bring up the annulment papers again, it would be fine.

Not that she could.

An annulment was out of the question now. Sure, we had divorce papers drafted, too, but I didn’t want to give her any reason to use them.

I rolled onto my side and jumped off the bed, then walked towards the bathroom. The door was ajar, and the sound of the shower running filled the room. I pushed the door open slightly and saw her naked figure behind the steamed-up shower doors.

Why was she sitting down?

I walked in and cracked open the shower door. “What are you doing?”

Deli looked up at me with the water trickling all over her. “My legs ache. I can’t get back up.”

“So, you’re just going to sit there? What if I didn’t come in here?”

“I knew you would.” She sniffed. “Help me. This is your fault.”

I turned off the water and grabbed her towel, then bent down and wrapped it around her shoulders. “I don’t know. You told me to make sure you can’t sit, and you seem to be doing that just fine.”

She stared blankly at me. “The cold floor feels nice.”

I laughed and turned to the huge bathtub in front of the window. “What about this instead?”

She nodded and leant her head against the wall.

“Don’t fall asleep.” I started running the water, selected a calming bubble bath, and poured the purple liquid in under the tap. The metal tub was a complete monster, and it was going to take forever to fill, so I helped Deli out of the shower and carried her to the chair by the window.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and curled up against me. The towel fell in the process of moving, and her nipple brushed against my chest, and I closed my eyes.

Not again.

“Put it away,” she muttered. “If you try that again, I’m going to end up with friction burns inside my vagina.”

I laughed, hugging her tightly. “Biological reaction. Don’t worry. I’ll leave you in peace… for tonight.”

“Mm. That’s a lot of promises for someone who didn’t want to touch me until tonight.”

“It’s not that I didn’t want to, and you know it.”

“Yeah, yeah.” She yawned. “Wake me up when the bath is done.”

“You’re going to sleep here on my lap like this?”

“Mhmm.” Her eyelashes fluttered against my neck as she closed her eyes, and I gently shook my head.

Of course she was.

Still, I let her have a ten-minute nap on my shoulder, then softly woke her up and carried her into the tub. It was more than big enough for us both, and I got in with her, nestling her between my legs in front of me.

Deli sighed, leaning back against me.

“Better?” I asked, kissing her shoulder.

She nodded, letting her eyes drift shut again. “Don’t let me drown.”

“Hmm, it’s tempting.”

She nudged her elbow back into my ribs. “Dickhead.”

“Ah, that’s better.”

“What is?”

“You insulting me. This is the Delilah I’m used to handling.” I swept her hair around and kissed the side of her neck. “Not the dirty-mouthed, bold-in-bed one.”

“Speak for yourself.” She raised her foot out of the water and stretched out her ankle. “Mr I’ve Got A New Kink.”

I laughed, burying my face into her neck. I nuzzled my nose against the tender skin there, and despite her jokes, she leant her head against mine and reached up to stroke my hair.

“How was I supposed to know I’d like it when you order me around?” I muttered against her neck.

“I’ve been doing it for almost thirty years. I thought you’d have some inkling by now.”

“Hmm. It’s definitely more palatable when you’re naked.”

“So,” she said slowly, dragging the word out. “All I have to do is get naked and you’ll do whatever I want?”
