Honey had the best seat of everyone. Her lawn chair sat next to the other Little girls on one side and Razor on the other. Honey held her Daddy’s hand as she giggled with her friends. She couldn’t remember a time she’d had so much fun being part of a group. A sudden hush fell over the gathering as another motorcycle engine approached.
Honey glanced up to see Lucien riding his monstrous black bike with red flames down the center of the street. He parked and walked up the driveway to join the street party, stopping in front of the Little girls who sat wrapped warmly in their Devil Daddies’ blankets. “Seems like I’m missing a party.”
“There are more s’mores,” Honey suggested and grinned as the rhyme tickled her.
“I think that’s exactly what I need now that everyone is home,” Lucien said. His lips curved in a rare smile as he met Honey’s gaze.
Charmed, she decided he wasn’t as scary as he’d first appeared. She returned the happy expression, and something clicked into place inside her as Razor patted her knee. This truly was home.
