Alaric, Paladin of Solaris
I was sent to kill her… but I submitted to her instead.
The GodKing ordered me to slay the sorceress Sylvanna and retrieve the Heart of the Eclipse—a legendary artifact said to shape fate itself.
Failure was not an option.
But when I found her, her Shadow Magic overwhelmed my Celestial Light. I alone bear the Holy Fire, yet I was powerless against her.
She offered me a take her Oath of Submission and serve her for a time, and she would grant me a chance at the Heart.
I had no choice but to obey.
I never expected to crave it.

Sylvanna, Sorceress of Nocturna
He came to destroy me. Now he is mine. Shadowbound.
I knew the Paladin was coming to kill me. I didn’t expect him to kneel.
Alaric is strong enough to snap me in half… but instead, he begs to serve, to please, to taste. He burns with Light, but his soul hungers for Shadow—and for me.
Training him is a pleasure. Keeping him is a temptation.
But our bond will be tested. To reclaim the Heart of the Eclipse, we must travel to the City of Night and face Kraven—my treacherous former Blood-Partner.
If we fail, our kingdoms will fall.
If we succeed… the magic awakening inside my Paladin may change everything.

Shadowbound is a steamy enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance
* A dominant vampire sorceress
* A proud, submissive paladin hero/ Dragon Shifter
* Sex-Magic training, and power exchange
* A high-stakes quest through a sensual, magical world
* Fated mates tension with dark spice and deep feels

If you love romantasy, magical kink, Dark Romance, enemies to lovers, and powerful heroines who take what they want, this book is for you

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue

Alaric Brightsword

Paladin of Solaris

Oathsworn Servant of the GodKing

“Come, Paladin—the GodKing will see you now.”

I nod at the Royal Guard and stride into the audience chamber, my ceremonial armor clanking. The sunlight falling from the high windows above lights the golden Celestial runes etched on the silver metal like lines of fire. It is a fitting look—I alone among my generation wield The Celestial Fire. I alone am indwelled by the Holy Flames.

Not that I’m proud of my status—I didn’t choose the Fire—it chose me. From a very early age, I knew what my vocation must be.

My metal boots clang against the flagstones and I come to a stop about a meter from the dais where the GodKing’s throne is located. He, too, is bathed in sunlight, thanks to a skylight cut into the arching stone above him.

Here in Solaris, we are lovers of the light. The beams of the sun fall upon the GodKing, making his snowy hair seem even whiter and lighting his craggy face. I lower myself to one knee before him.

I remember the first time I bowed before this throne—it was ten years ago and the GodKing still had streaks of brown in his hair. I was just a young knight then but still, he honored me. I am oathsworn to the man upon the throne—I would do anything for him.

“Paladin…Alaric.” He nods at me, his faded blue eyes sweeping over my armor. “It is very good to see you again, my boy,” he says. “I have a quest for you.”

My heart leaps. Things have been quiet lately with our enemies—the NightBorn of Nocturna. It’s been too long since I went to battle.

“Yes, my GodKing,” I say. “What can I do for you? What quest would you have me complete?”

“A very important one—perhaps more important than any before it,” he says. He leans forward, his bunched knuckles tightening as his arthritic fingers grip the golden arms of his throne. “My boy, I would have you search out and bring to me The Heart of the Eclipse.”

My eyebrows shoot up.

“But my Lord—I thought that was just a legend?”

He shakes his head, his long white hair moving over his once-broad shoulders.

“Nay, lad! My head Seer had a vision just today. The Heart exists—it is in the keeping of one of the most wicked of the NightBorn. The Sorceress Sylvanna holds it in her tower.”

I frown—I’ve heard the name before. Who hasn’t? But I don’t like fighting women.

“There is little honor in killing a woman—even a witch,” I point out to the GodKing.

He glares at me.

“You think I’m sending you for honor’s sake, boy? The Heart of the Eclipse is said to have unspoken powers! There is a prophecy attached to it. It speaks of the final destruction of Nocturna! The supremacy of Solaris! And best of all, rebirth and renewal—possibly even youth eternal.”

For a moment I see an almost greedy light enter his faded blue eyes. The GodKing is ancient—he has ruled our lands—the kingdom of Solaris—for countless years. But he has no heir. Everyone expects him to name someone to take the throne when he passes but he never has. Maybe this is why. He thinks that the Heart of the Eclipse will bring him eternal life.

I have my doubts about the efficacy of such an artifact, but I can’t share them with my liege lord. It is not my place to question his judgment.

“Yes, my Lord,” I say instead. “And you wish me to find it for you?”

“Find it and lay it at my feet!” he demands. “You know the location of Sylvanna’s tower?”

“I can find it,” I tell him. “The Holy Fire inside me will guide me to her evil that I may purge it from the world.”

“Good lad.” He nods, apparently satisfied. But then he leans forward again. “Listen to me, Alaric—you’re my best knight—the only one gifted with the Celestial Fire. I value you highly.”

“Thank you, my Lord.” I bow my head in gratitude. “You honor me.”

“And I will honor you even more if you return with the Heart of the Eclipse,” he tells me. “But look at me…”

I look up, meeting his steely gaze.

“Yes, my Lord?” I ask.

“If you don’t get the Heart, don’t come back,” he says to me. “My halls will be closed to you. Do you understand?”

My heart feels like it’s freezing in my chest. My whole world is here in the GodKing’s holy Citadel. My entire life has been dedicated to defending it—to protecting and furthering the GodKing’s interests. But never has he given me such an ultimatum.

“I…understand, my Lord,” I said, my throat tight. Would he really refuse me entrance to the Citadel if I cannot complete this quest? It seems so. I have never seen him look so serious—so harsh.

“Good. Then go—and bring me The Heart,” he commands, sitting back in his golden throne. “Do not fail me, Sir Alaric.”
Both are in love with her. They join to give her pleasures she’s never dreamed of, but the Court doesn’t approve of the relationship between the Princess and her guards. Will Lily live to become…the Queen of Midnight? You’ll have to read this Spicy MFM Ménage Romantasy novel to find out!***This book is the sequel to The Throne of Midnight but it can be read as a STAND ALONE novel

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

1

Lily

I looked down at the crumpled five-dollar bill in my right hand…and then at the jar of chunky peanut butter in my left. Peanut butter is a good source of protein and energy—a little bit can keep you going for quite a long time. But the price tag on the side of the jar read $4.99.

I had enough change to cover the tax, but if I spent it, that was it—I was officially out of funds—a nice way of saying “flat broke.”

I considered the peanut butter again and then looked out the large plate glass window of the Grab N Go, which was the last gas station around for miles. My tired old Chevy minivan was riding on empty. If I spent my last five dollars and change on food, I was going to be stuck here for the foreseeable future. Or at least until someone got sick of seeing me out in the small parking area and called to get me towed away. Then what would I do? I couldn’t just—

“Hey, lady—you gonna buy that or what?”

The clerk’s voice broke my train of thought and I looked up to see him smirking at me, his long hair flopping in his face. I bet he thought girls liked that. I thought about telling him he was wrong and decided against it—I was too tired and hungry to pick a fight. Especially with someone who could get me towed if he wanted to.

“No…I guess not.” Reluctantly, I put the peanut butter back on the shelf with the other overpriced groceries. Things always cost more at the gas station but there was no grocery store anywhere around—not that I could afford much of anything there either.

If I used the money for gas, I could possibly make it to the local food pantry tomorrow, I told myself. And maybe they could point me in the direction of a women’s shelter. I hated to go stay someplace like that, but it was time to admit defeat—I couldn’t keep living in my car forever.

I walked up to the counter and laid the crumpled five-dollar bill on the counter.

“Five dollars of regular on pump six,” I told the clerk, who rang me up without comment.

I watched as the five disappeared into his register. It was my emergency money—the bill I’d always kept in the tiny back pocket of my purse in case I ran short. Parting with it hurt—and it hurt even more to use it for gas.

My stomach was growling angrily at me, but I told myself I wasn’t starving yet. I still had plenty of padding on my hips and ass. I’ve always been a curvy girl. I used to joke that I could live off my curves for months—now I was testing that theory and finding that it wasn’t much fun. Also, even though I hadn’t had enough to eat in what felt like forever, I still wasn’t anywhere near skinny—how is that fair?

I went out and pumped the gas, noticing that the minivan’s left front tire was worryingly low. I might have enough change to use the air machine and fill it up, but I didn’t want to deal with it tonight.

Instead, I pulled around to the far side of the tiny parking lot at the back of the Grab N Go, far out of everyone’s way. The gas station was out in the back of beyond—I’d ended up here after taking a wrong turn—and the area was pretty rural.

The lot was backed by a small field that sloped down into a thick forest. I could hear the wind rustling in the trees but I couldn’t see much past what the sodium arc lights mounted over the pumps showed.

It was already getting chilly—not surprising since the area was right at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and it was Autumn. I wished I could turn on the car and run the heater, but I didn’t dare waste the pitiful bit of fuel that my last five dollars had bought me. Instead, I turned around and rummaged in my big duffle bag which held pretty much everything I owned in the world. I managed to wrestle my winter coat out of the bag and dragged it on.

I hadn’t worn it since last winter and I couldn’t help thinking how different my life had been back then—not even a year ago. We’d had a family Christmas with everyone gathered in the big house in Ashville that Christopher had been able to buy after he made partner. Both the kids were there—Amy had flown in from France where she was doing a study abroad program and Chris Junior had brought his new wife all the way from Oregon.

Thinking of my step kids always gave me a warm glow. I might not have given birth to them, but I had raised them from the ages of three and five—for all intents and purposes, I was their mom.

A Fairy Princess with no power is married off to the enemy who she believes killed her brother. But when her new husband offers to help her unlock her magic, she must make a choice between love and revenge…

Who ever heard of a fairy princess with no magic? Well, that happens to be my fate. I am Alira Shiningstar of the Royal house of the Seelie Court. I am descended from a long line of powerful Fae, and yet I have no power of my own.

I might be forgiven for having no magic, but I have no beauty, either. I am curvy where I should be thin and my hair is dark instead of blonde. I do not look like the other Fae maidens…so why is it that Liath Blackthorn, the Prince of our sworn enemy, the Unseelie Court, wishes to marry me?

Liath doesn’t look like a proper Fae either—he is tall and beastly with curving horns and blazing bronze eyes. He tells me that I do have magic—that it is buried inside me. And only he can bring it out.

But the things he wants to do to unlock my hidden power leave me hot and trembling. Surely it isn’t right to do such things, even with one’s husband…is it? I don’t know if it is or not—I only know that the touch of my new husband’s hands on my body makes me quiver with need. And inside me I feel a force growing…a shadow that is bigger than both of us.

What happens next? You’ll have to read this Enemies to Lovers, He Falls First, Praise K*nk, Who Did This To You, Sex Magic, Spicy Dark Fantasy Romance to find out!

Author's Spice note--this one gets spicy. Don't say I didn't warn you. : )

*************FULL BOOK START HERE*************

Prologue

One does not often hear of an ugly fairy princess, but we do exist.

I am ugly—by the standards of my court.

I am Princess Alira of the Seelie Court—some call it the Summer Court, for it is always fair and bright in my father’s kingdom. And so are the inhabitants—High Fae all of them—with the palest skin, hair like spun gold, and eyes like jewels.

I am pale, all right, but I miss the mark in all other respects and thus I am ugly—at least according to my cousins, Asfaloth and Calista and my father, King Euberon, to whom I am a great disappointment.

I do not have the fair, golden hair or the jewel-toned eyes, so prized in the Seelie Court, that the other High Fae possess. Nor am I slender as a sapling, with tiny breasts no bigger than Spring buds.

This boyish beauty has eluded me all my life. I swear I came from the womb a chubby infant—so big in fact, that my passage took my mother’s life, for her hips were too narrow and her body too delicate to bear me. For this, my father has never forgiven me—for my ugliness killed her beauty and deprived the Seelie Court of its Shining Star.

As I grew, I never “leaned out” as my old nurse kept hopefully predicting I would. Instead, I developed unsightly curves—broad hips and a large behind. And worst of all, full, heavy breasts tipped with large nipples and wide areolas, obscenely dark against my pale skin.

I am a throw-back, they say. A mutation, with my long, midnight blue hair and dark gray eyes like a storm on the ocean, about which there is nothing jewel-like at all. My seamstress tries to hide my overfull curves in voluminous dresses—but such garments only makes me look bigger and even more unlovely.

Of course, even an ugly fairy princess is still a princess and might be tolerated if she has strong magic. But here again, I am caught out—for I have none. I cannot do the simplest thing for myself—I cannot heal a wound if I get cut, or clean a spot from my dress. I cannot bless or curse anyone—I cannot even turn cream into butter to spread on my toast.

Not that I am supposed to be eating toast. My maid is always trying to tempt me with thistle-down tea and rose petal stew. Such delicate fare is what most of the Court enjoys and also what is considered proper for a princess of royal blood. I think my father believes that if I subsist on nothing but moonbeams and stardust, I may in time grow slender and willowy as a Fae maiden is supposed to be.

Or that was his hope for many years. But now, it seems he has given up. For today I am leaving the Seelie Court forever and he will never have to see me again.

Today I am to be married.

“Here you are, my Lady.” My maid, Tansy, bustles into my room, a long white dress draped carefully over her twig-like arms. “Your wedding dress—just finished and fresh from the seamstress this moment,” she tells me.

Tansy is a brùnaidh, sometimes also known as a ‘hobgoblin’ by the ruder denizens of the Seelie Court. She has a small, thin body with rough, brown, bark-like skin and a large, round head that seems too big to be supported by her skinny neck. Her nose is long and crooked but her eyes are kind.

She is considered quite shockingly ugly in a Court obsessed with beauty and symmetry, but I don’t care. I chose her to be my maid because, of all those who applied for the position, she was the only one who didn’t sneer when she saw me.

I chose her from among a lot of fairies, their shimmering, gossamer wings flapping idly as they gossiped among themselves in their high, flute-like voices. Some creatures may straddle the line between the Seelie and Unseelie Courts, but the fairies belong firmly in the Summer Realm. They are utter perfection with their tiny, symmetrical features and slender, androgynous bodies—my exact opposite. Maybe you can see why I didn’t want one for a maid.

“My wedding dress,” I say, echoing her words, but the thought brings me no joy. The man my father has agreed to give me to is from the Dark Realm—the Unseelie Court or the Winter Court, some call it—for it is always cold and barren there. Or so I have heard—I have never been to visit.

The Courts do not mix, as a general rule, except in battle, for there is a long-standing feud between the Seelie and Unseelie Realms. This is something my marriage is meant to fix—I am a peace offering—a sacrificial lamb being sent to the slaughter. The hope is that by marrying a princess of the Summer Court to a prince of the Winter Court, peace may be achieved.
