Adrian is talking to some ugly guy at the bar and two girls are sitting so close to Cam they are almost on his lap. Ben is against the wall with the other security guards. He’s too neurotic to drink at the moment. He blames himself for the attack three weeks ago at my office when he had the week off. I sit next to them, detached from their conversation. The side of my pointer slides back and forth across my lips as I think.
She still hasn’t slept with anyone…why?
It can’t have anything to do with me. She didn’t love me when we were together, so she definitely doesn’t love me now. Why hasn’t she slept with anyone? She’s obviously gagging for it. I’ve never been with a woman who is so sexually raw and untamed. My mind goes back to her body yesterday in the stairwell and a wave of arousal sweeps over me, and I harden. I scrub my hand over my face in frustration and lean back in my seat. Oh, the irony. I had a hot naked stripper rubbing herself all over me last night and nothing and yet just the thought of Natasha and her beautiful tight body sends my hormones into overdrive. Why am I so physically attracted to the ultimate deceiver? I need to break free from this stupid obsession. Cam’s right, why can’t I be attracted to one of the beautiful women from home? Am I ever going to feel something? I make myself sick. I need to go home. Now.
Cameron returns with drinks. I hadn’t even realized he
had left. “Here.” He places them in front of me. “Thanks,” I murmur, distracted.
“Hello Joshua.” A voice from behind me sneers.
It’s that blonde prostitute. I don’t even know her name. I make eye contact with Ben and slightly nod, he nods in reply and walks slowly over to us.
“Let’s get out of here.” She signals to the stairs.
I roll my eyes. “Let’s not,” I reply flatly. “Go away, I’m not interested.”
She puts her hand on her hip. “That’s very rude.”
I raise an eyebrow at her in contempt. “No, if you want rude, I will rephrase it, get out of my fucking sight.”
Cameron smiles and sits back as he watches our interaction.
He’s loving this.
“I didn’t hear you complain when we were together,” she purrs.
I roll my eyes. “Go away. I’m done.” I signal to Ben who walks over and stands behind her.
“Move,” Ben snaps.
“Don’t you dare put your ghouls onto me. Who do you think you are?”
“Over this boring conversation. That’s who.” I scratch my head in frustration. I don’t want Natasha to see her talking to me.
Ben grabs the back of her elbow and she rips it away from him.
“Don’t touch me,” she yells. People around us start to notice the disturbance and I drop my head in embarrassment.
“You will be sorry, Joshua.”
I laugh. “Actually, trust me. No, I won’t.” I raise my eyebrows.
She smiles. “I wonder if your little princess would like the movies sent to her private or personal email.”
My eyes slowly rise to meet hers.
“Natasha Marx, Psychologist. Just changed jobs right. Email is natashamarx@sydneyhospital.com.au.” She folds her arms in front of her and smiles at me.
Ben grabs her again and I hold up my hand to him to signify for him to stop. Cameron sits up in his seat immediately.
“Got your attention now, haven’t I?” she sneers. “That’s right. I filmed our nights together and I am only too happy to pass on the happy memories to the boring little wife and kiddies.”
“What do you want?” Cameron snaps angrily. “I will let you know.” She storms off.
“Son of a bitch, you attract crazies,” Cameron stammers as he holds his forehead with one hand.
Adrian walks over. “What did she want?”
“Nob jockey here was filmed by the prostitute and now she wants money, or she is going to send the movies to Natasha.”
Adrian’s eyes snap to me. “Tell me you are not that stupid.” I drop my head. “This just gets better by the day.”
My phone beeps a text. It’s Natasha.
Hello xx
I sit back in my seat and smile. This brings back memories.
I reply.
Hello
My phone beeps again.
Are you coming down here to kiss me?
I smile, I wish. I reply.
No
For fifteen minutes I watch my phone while I wait for her reply, but it doesn’t come. What is she doing?
“What if that chick goes and sees Natasha and tells her about the movies?” Cameron remarks over his drink.
I frown and stand in a rush. “Let’s go downstairs,” I stammer. Adrian smiles broadly as he stands. He nods and signals to Ben.
We start to make our way over to the staircase.
“What’s happening with Tash?” Cam smirks over his shoulder as he takes the first step down.
I shrug as I follow. “Nothing, why do you say that?”
