“No, little one. Dragons cannot even lie to themselves.”

Sol’s breath shook as Korin crept forward.

Coins stirred beneath his enormous weight.

Giving up on the mate part, she edged back, step by trembling step. "Where are we?"

Korin inhaled her scent deeply through his nostrils. The rumble that followed made her bones vibrate. "You are home. This is just one part of our castle. I have someone to introduce you too."

“You said this is home.” She shook her head. "This is not the Lowly Quarter."

"Yet this is your home."

"Why did you really bring me here?"

"You wanted to know what you are."

"You could have just told me!"

"You would not have believed me."

“How do you know that?”

“Because it is obvious what you are, yet even you have chosen not to see it.”

“I. . .don’t know what I should see.”

“What magical creature would come from an egg?”

“Lowlys cannot learn, so how would I know?!”

“Hmmm. That is probably why your Lowly parents and you do not know. Plus, I have hidden information very well in this past century. Many others may not know either.”

“What information? Please. . .Korin. . .” Sol’s hands trembled as she lifted them, palms glowing faintly with the chill of her awakening power. "Tell me now."

“Do you think you are ready for the truth?”

“Y-yes.”

“Hmmm. But. . .I could barely believe it myself when I saw you. I thought that. . .there were no more but us.”

“No more of what?”

“How did your egg survive for so long?”

Sol parted her lips.

Korin moved closer.

She stepped back. "Stay there."

His golden eyes glittered. "Or what, little one?"

"I will shoot you with ice."

A dark grin stretched across his monstrous face. "Do it."

She blinked.

Korin tilted his massive head. "Go ahead. Push your power out. Hit me anywhere."

“I don’t want to kill you. I. . .just want answers and to go home.”

“A mate cannot kill their mate. It is impossible.”

Sol’s eyes narrowed. "I am not your m—”

He watched her struggle with finishing the sentence and then laughed.

“I warned you, Korin."

“Do it.”

“Fine. I will.”

Dear God. What will happen when I blast him?

Chapter thirteen

The Fire that Doesn't Burn

Sol

The air around her dropped ten degrees as she gathered every ounce of magic within. She dug deep, down to that ancient vein of cold fury and sacred blood that pulsed beneath her ribs. Light burst at her fingertips—silvery blue specks swimming in cold, sparkling white. The glow crackled. Icy wind whipped her hair around her face.

Then she released it.

The blast of magic surged like a tidal wave of winter, roaring from her hands and crashing straight into Korin’s jaw. It hit him with a crack that reverberated through the hoard, throwing frost across gold and gems.

Take that.

He didn’t move.

Korin simply grunted.

Steam rose from his scales, twisting into the air in translucent coils as if her frost cooled him, not harmed him. His massive head tilted back.

Then he loudly groaned and those big gold eyes rolled back in pure pleasure.

What?

Next, the coins beneath his massive body began to stir as a plop sounded.

What was that?

Sol looked down.

Oh no. His. . .testicles just dropped. They’re. . .huge and. . .oh no. His. . .love blade.

Sol blinked as his cock began to grow larger and wide.

Rising.

Gold coins spilled away to make room for the huge thing.

And she couldn’t look away.

Black and gold scaled, it was smooth and heavy. Powerful. Pushing forward, growing thicker by the second. His scales parted slightly at his underside, revealing more of the obsidian-sheened shaft veined in gold.

When his cock fell to the ground, a hole caved in beneath his girth. Coins tumbled. Crowns tipped. Chalices overturned. Diamonds bounced like thrown stones.

Sol gasped.

A dark flush crept up her neck.

Her thighs pressed together in response.

No. No. My body should not react to this.

Korin exhaled sharply, and then he shook himself, causing the massive cock to make a huge mess. Jewels and coins scattered underneath him.

Sol dared to look at his cock again.

It was erotic, magnificent, and monstrous all at once, his body a fusion of myth and lust. That hardened length—black-gold and glistening—jutted like a blade forged by gods and raised in sensual challenge.

Korin’s golden gaze raked over her body, lingering on the way she clutched the pelt to her breasts. A dark hunger burned in his golden eyes, but he didn’t advance. “You wake the oldest part of me, little one.”

She could only stare.

Korin shivered. The massive shaft swayed beneath him, its dark length glistening, heavy and pulsing—gold coins clinging to it before slipping off in glittering cascades. “I want you to do it again.”

Sol faltered. "Hit you with my power?”

“Yes.”

“Why. . .doesn't it hurt you?"

"Because you are my mate, your power will never work on me. It will just be pain and pleasure."

Her lips parted. "I. . .I don’t understand."

"No?"

"No."

“Hmmm.” With a growl, he rose his body up, lifting the upper half of his frame just like he did in the sky many many hours ago.
