“I need to ensure I’m aware of what’s happening in my house. Now, up we go. Before we get caught.”

He plants a quick kiss on my lips as we both rise from the bed to dress. “Sweet dreams, Peach,” he murmurs. I glance over my shoulder and reply, “Same to you, Mr. Blake.” With a flirtatious smile, I open his door, gently close it behind me, and head down the hall.

“Well, isn’t this interesting…”

I jump, my gaze flying up to find Vince leaning against my doorframe, his arms crossed over his chest. Panic immediately seizes my breath. “What’s interesting?” I ask, hoping my question comes out calmer than I feel.

Vince laughs, pushing off the doorframe. “Where should I start?” He walks up to me, his eyes roaming my face and then dragging down my body. “So, this is why you won’t give it up to Noah? You’re fucking his daddy.”

He raises his hand to touch my face, and I slap it away. “Fuck you.”

“Oh, you have no idea how much I’d like to take you up on that offer. But you look a little beat up right now. I think I’ll wait ’til you tighten back up a bit.” I thrust my hands into his chest to move him out of my way, but he grabs my wrists.

“What would poor Noah do if I told him your little secret?”

“There’s no secret to tell. Let go of me.”

He leans in and inhales. “God, you smell like Daddy’s little whore. Is his jizz still inside you? Should I check?” His hand shoots between my legs. Before he has the chance to assault me, I raise my knee and kick him in the groin. “Fuck!” He shoves me up against the wall. “That wasn’t nice, bitch.”

“Let me go, or I’m going to scream.”

“For who? Your lover or your ex? Why don’t you do that? We can both let Noah know what naughty things you’ve been up to.”

“Whatever you think you know, you’re wrong.”

“I doubt that. I’m going to let you go shower off the disgust of letting an old man fuck you. We’ll be in touch when I decide how I’m going to make you pay for my silence.” He leans in, and I angle my face as he attempts to kiss me. His lips fall to my neck instead, and he sucks my skin into his mouth to the point of pain, then releases me and steps away. He stops at the top of the stairs and looks back. “Don’t even think about running back in there and tattling. It’ll only make matters worse for you.” Then he’s gone.

I gulp in air, but it barely fills my lungs. My trembling hands clutch my chest. I try to run to Jackson, but my legs betray me. There’s no doubt in my mind Vince meant every word of his threat.

In a daze, I stagger back to my room, lock the door, and crawl beneath the covers. Hours drag by, sleep evading me as Vince’s words echo in my mind. He knows our secret.

I lie there, drowning in tears, until sunlight peeks through the blinds and distant movements stir in the house. I wonder how long I can hide before someone comes searching for me. Noah’s silence is a small comfort—he won’t come rushing—but Jackson won’t tolerate my absence for long.

A sharp pain seizes my gut. What am I going to do? How will I face Jackson today? And how can I keep this secret hidden from him?

Time slips away until I can’t remember how long I’ve been in my room. Forcing my legs to move, I climb out of bed, dress, and head downstairs, anxiety rising within me. I hold my breath as I step into the kitchen.

“Morning.” His voice jolts me so suddenly that I nearly stumble backward. “Someone’s a little jumpy today. Need help relaxing?”

My eyes land on Jackson sitting at the table, casually sipping his coffee. He looks incredibly handsome in his casual attire, his chiseled physique still glistening with a light sheen of sweat and his hair casually tousled, a clear sign he just finished working out. I bite the inside of my cheek, wishing I could run into his arms and confess everything that happened after I left his room last night. Part of me screams to do just that. If anybody will know what to do, it’s him.

“Jackson, I—”

The back door opens, and I snap my mouth shut as Noah walks in.

“How was your morning swim, boys?”

“Just what I needed, Mr. Blake.” My skin crawls at the sound of Vince’s voice. He turns his attention to me, and his lips curl. I clutch my stomach, fighting back the sudden urge to be sick. “What’s up, Georgia? You don’t look so hot. Rough night?”

I feel Jackson’s gaze on me, but I keep my eyes fixed elsewhere. “Probably just too much sun,” I force out.
